HONORARY MEMBERSHIP OF MOGA
MOGA greatly values the support and contributions of our members in advancing our national, professional organisation, the Australian Medical Oncology Profession, and the Specialty of Medical Oncology.
We honour the work of those intrepid medical oncologists who had the commitment and foresight to support the establishment of a national professional organisation; and, those medical oncologists who have demonstrated outstanding service to MOGA over their career to ensure that the national professional, organisation has continued to grow and prosper.
Under the MOGA Constitution Honorary Membership is awarded to long serving and distinguished members in recognition of outstanding service to MOGA, with due consideration to guidelines drawn up and amended as considered necessary from time to time by the Executive Committee (last approved June 2021).
An Honorary Life Member has full membership rights in perpetuity as a financial member but is not required to pay the annual membership fee.
Nominating an Honorary Member
The Executive Committee will consider no more than two nominations for Honorary Membership each year and nominations should be made in writing to moga@moga.org.au by 31 March. Recipients will be announced at the Annual General Meeting.
Nominations need to address the criteria for Honorary Membership as follows and be accompanied by a current CV and publication history for the nominee:
Retired from the workforce;
No longer in clinical practice or actively engaged in patient care;
Been a career-long financial member of MOGA;
Recipient of a major MOGA Award;
Demonstrated outstanding service to MOGA including:
service as a MOGA Office Bearer (Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer or Public Officer) or Executive member for no less than 4 terms
contribution and service in the establishment of MOGA in the 1970-90s
